Fresh Spring Wedding Trend | Mustard Accents on Brick Backdrops

Spring is here! It's really here!! Despite the unseasonably rainy year in San Diego, we can feel Spring in the air. When we shot these photos back in February, it was hard to imagine warmer temps and sunnier days were on the horizon. But just as San Diego always does, it has started boasting those gorgeous sunny days here and there that remind us Spring really is here to stay.

The mix of bright and moody tones in this color palette feels like a perfect representation of the San Diego weather this year. Fresh mustard accents with moody blue and warm sea glass. Soft hints of blush and mauve. The floral arrangements were so gorgeous with the brick backdrop. The mustard pops in every photo, as it tries to steal the show from the brick.

The amazing thing about The Pannikin Building is that the brick offers such a dramatic backdrop that you hardly even need many florals. Jillian with To Be Designed did such a beautiful job with the design of this entire photo shoot and EMRY Photography captured it magically. One of our favorite parts was the use of votives to accent the brick arches. Touches of mustard florals, not overdone, yet so tastefully complimenting the natural materials in the building. Just breathtaking.

We did two looks for the bride, both a common theme of lace and timeless. Lace is such a beautiful trend that feels like it never truly goes out of style. It just evolves with the times. A little piece of old mixed with the trends of the present. The first look was a classy, long sleeve dress was such a tasteful modesty that felt like it spoke to the history of our old building. The second sleeveless look was completed by a flowing, romantic lace train. It felt like the hardwood floors and dress train were a match made in heaven.

As the bride and groom posed on the baby grand piano, we thought: WOW. There's just something so ridiculously romantic about a grand piano. Maybe it's the black and white. Perhaps the music it creates draws the romanticism. It's unexplainable. All we knew is that our front window was calling it's name. We can imagine a bride and groom enjoying their first dance with live piano music in the backdrop, swaying back and forth on the ballroom-like wood floors. Natural light streaming through the front window, a perfect spotlight for the moment...

All in all, a gorgeous day at The Pannikin Building. A spring trend that certainly calls to be recreated.
